Job Description

THE POSITION

In the Certification Specialist position with Assured Housing Solutions, you will have an oversight of the certification activities of an assigned property. In this role you will provide compliance support in completing certifications with households along with training and guidance to property management staff.

What You Can Expect To Do

  • -Oversight of certification activities of assigned property, working directly with households on the certification process.
  • -Travel to property(ies) is required, as needed (at least 50%)
  • -Support our property management teams when they have questions regarding certification completion or procedures.
  • -Provide compliance support in completing certifications along with training and guidance to property management staff.
  • -Review and track certification requirements for HUD, Tax Credit and other programs; first year "lease up” files for Acquisition-Rehab and New Construction, in partnership with third-party vendors.
  • -Complete certifications for 1st year recertifications.
  • -Provide administrative support, including timely data entry into compliance reporting systems, filing, and ongoing file maintenance.
  • -Stay current with all federal and applicable state regulations for the LIHTC, HUD, and HOME affordable housing programs as they relate to files.
  • -Ensure certification documents are filed accordingly.
  • -Provide regular updates on the activities and status of certifications throughout assigned portfolio; establish reporting requirements and track key data accordingly.

What You Should Have

  • -5+ years of experience completing certifications for a diverse portfolio of properties.
  • -Experience managing certification process for 600+ units; and experience working in multiple states with diverse subsidy programs; both state and federal
  • -Working knowledge of program and regulatory requirements
  • -Bachelor’s Degree preferred or proven history of relevant experience
  • -COS Designation (Certified Occupancy Specialist) or equivalent (BOS is a plus)
  • -Tremendous organizational skills and the ability to advance several processes simultaneously
  • -Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and analytical skills
  • -Experience with multiple software systems- compliance, project management
  • -Proficiency in Microsoft suite; Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • -Strong work ethic, critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and sense of urgency
  • -Desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • -Ability to take ownership and commitment to follow through
  • -Willingness to travel at least 50% of the time
