Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and driven Controller/CFO to join our team in Fort Myers, FL. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for managing all financial operations of the company, including overseeing accounting functions, financial controls, forecasts, reports, tax filings, and other essential procedures. As the head of the accounting department, you will lead and mentor a talented team, transforming financial data into actionable insights while ensuring exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders.

You will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team to maximize financial performance and protect company assets. The ideal candidate will have a strong financial background, a passion for leadership, and the ability to foster a high-performance culture within the accounting department.

Responsibilities:

Accounting Leadership:

Lead and develop the accounting team, ensuring their success through training, coaching, and mentoring.
Create a positive and empowering environment, encouraging the team to deliver high-quality results.
Set department goals, prioritize initiatives, and establish key performance indicators.
Promote continuous improvement within the team and throughout the business.
Accounting Management:

Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with company standards and internal controls.
Streamline accounting systems and processes to convert data into valuable insights.
Focus on how accounting systems impact operational teams and improve processes through a systems-driven approach.
Financial Reporting:

Ensure timely and accurate financial reports, aligned with the company's closing schedule.
Provide actionable financial insights to key stakeholders by delivering monthly reports.
Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and communicate financial drivers to management.
Support operational teams with project forecasting and financial reporting.
Tax and Audit Support:

Assist with project audits and provide necessary data to operations teams.
Oversee all tax reporting and filing activities, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
Work with the team to compile and deliver accurate data while teaching them the purpose and skills involved.
Treasury Management:

Monitor cash balances and working capital, proactively managing cash flow.
Utilize cash forecasting tools to predict future financial impacts from business decisions.
Customer Service:

Foster a "how can we serve you?" mentality within the accounting department.
Ensure all employees and external partners receive exceptional service and support.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required.
At least 5 years of experience in general construction accounting.
CPA certification preferred but not required.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Experience with software integrations, migrations, and implementations.
