Posting Date: Job Schedule: Locations: Degree Level: Job Description: What We Are Looking For Baylor University is seeking a dynamic and experienced Esports Director & Coach to support the mission and vision of Baylor University within the Marketing & Communications Division to develop, lead, and manage our new competitive gaming program at the collegiate level. This role involves coaching esports student-athletes, recruiting talent, fostering a positive team culture and developing revenue streams through sponsorships and philanthropy while overseeing the daily administrative and operational aspects of the Esports program.
A Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management, Game Design, Education, or related field, and three years of relevant work experience is required. A Master's Degree and five years of relevant work experience is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications: - Proven experience as an Esports coach, director, or competitive player at the collegiate level
- Strong knowledge of multiple Esports titles, including but not limited to League of Legends, Valorant, Overwatch, Rocket League, and Fortnite
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze gameplay data and develop effective training strategies
- Familiarity with streaming platforms, broadcasting, and content creation is a plus
- Passion for gaming, competition, and mentorship of student-athletes
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. What You Will Do - Develop, implement and direct a strategic vision and plan for the college Esports program, ensuring competitive excellence and player development
- Recruit, train, and mentor student-athletes to improve individual skills and team performance
- Design and execute effective training regimens, including gameplay analysis, strategy development, and mental preparation
- Schedule and oversee practices, scrimmages, and official collegiate competitions
- Integrate with the Division of Marketing and Communications and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in support of institutional marketing and admissions objectives
- Collaborate with the School of Engineering and Computer Science and Division of Student Life to promote program growth and integration within the institution
- Liaison with high school esports programs to establish positive relationships and host competitions
- Organize and participate in community outreach, fundraising, and promotional events
- Maintain knowledge of Esports trends, game updates, and competitive scene developments
- Manage Esports facilities, equipment, and technological resources
- Foster a supportive and inclusive team environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth
- Ensure compliance with collegiate league rules, tournament guidelines, and ethical gaming practice
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
- Ability to comply with University policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
