With a start date of August 15, 2025, Kents Hill’s new French teacher will collaborate with World Language Department educators striving to instill a love and curiosity of the French language and Francophone culture while advancing the Kents Hill curriculum and their own teaching practices. 

Essential Functions

The ideal candidate will be:

• passionate about sharing their love of the French language and cultures
• dedicated to student-centered inquiry and teaching for linguistic and cultural competence
• eager to contribute to the department’s ongoing development of its curriculum map rooted in knowledge, skills, character, and reflection
• willing to engage in a culture of collaboration and feedback
• committed to developing in all Kents Hill students the kinds of sophisticated problem-solving and critical-thinking strategies needed for success beyond secondary education
• authentically engage learners in problems that extend beyond the walls of the classroom
• culturally competent with skills for engaging with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences
• an educator passionate about the pursuit of their own personal growth through professional development
• committed to the boarding school student experience and excited to engage with students both inside and outside of the classroom. Typically, this includes: 
  • Living in a campus residence and participating in all aspects of residential life
  • Advising a group of students
  • Involvement in coaching afternoon athletics and/or leading extracurricular activities 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have: 

• experience teaching French from the introductory level through AP French Language and Culture
• native or near-native fluency in French
• multilingual teaching experience, though not required, preference to Spanish and/or Mandarin languages
• excellent written and verbal communication skills
• the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
