About the Governor's Summer Internship Program (GSI):

The Governor’s Summer Internship Program (GSI) is designed to give college students real-world, hands-on experience in their desired field of study to enhance marketability upon graduation. Participation in the program will offer students a multitude of experiences including networking with state employees, resume building and soft skills workshops, agency head panels, and much more.

 

About the Family & Social Services Administration (FSSA) IN 211:

Indiana 211 has only been integrated into state government since 2020 and has expanded its footprint significantly; therefore this is a unique opportunity to learn about the process but also participate in three areas of the operations, including transition of community navigator training modules into a learning tool, research opportunities for community engagement, and seeking new resources within local communities for inclusion into the Indiana 211 database. This position is intermittent full-time, offering approximately 37.5 hours per week during the summer. The work hours are during normal business hours Monday through Friday each week. 

 

Role Overview

  • Work with IN211 Training Director to:
    • Learn the learning management tool
    • Transition community navigator training modules
    • Test module assignment and tracking
  • Work with the IN211 Community Engagement team to:
    • Identify new opportunities for community engagement based on current summer calendar events
    • Identify new Community Calendar events and assist the team in updating the active community calendar
    • Analyze community unmet needs data to find resources in underutilized 
  • Work with the IN211 Resource Database Manager to:
    • Identify new opportunities for community resources for inclusion in the IN211 resource database by
      • Locating resource listings within local communities to assess alignment with IN211
      • Reviewing resource leads presented by the team and assessing appropriateness for inclusion in IN211 based on the IN211 Inclusion Guidelines
  • Communicate with Deputy Directors, Training Director, and Resource Curation Manager
  • Provide administrative support

 

Salary Statement

This position is a full-time program management assistant position that will pay $16.24/hour for those that do not hold a bachelor’s degree and $17.24 for those that hold a bachelor’s degree or higher by the time the internship begins.

 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Identify and execute one major project related to agency needs and academic area of study
  • Create, develop, and sustain the programmatic efforts for the assigned discipline
  • Analyze data and feedback to provide recommendations 
  • Partner with other relevant stakeholders to promote and enhance the quality of projects
  • Collaborate with State of Indiana agencies to ensure effective implementation of internal and external initiatives

  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate with an accredited post-secondary institution and have completed at least one (1) year of undergraduate education.
