Job Title:  Home-Based Early Childhood Special Education Teacher or Speech-Language Pathologist for Birth to 3 years old.   See both job descriptions below.

Location: Home-Based (Serving Families in  Blair & Arlington )
Job Type: Full-time, 190 days per school year (starts in August 2025)

Job Overview:

We are seeking a passionate  Early Childhood Special Education Teacher or  Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)to provide home-based services for children from birth to age three. This role focuses on fostering developmental progress through play-based, evidence-based interventions while coaching families to support their child’s growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct developmental and speech/language assessments for infants and toddlers.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide direct early intervention services in a child’s home or natural environment.
  • Coach and educate caregivers on strategies to support their child’s communication, cognitive, and motor development.
  • Collaborate with families and other professionals (e.g., occupational therapists, physical therapists) to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports per program and state requirements.

Qualifications:

  • For Special Education Teacher: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education, Special Education or related field.
  • For Speech-Language Pathologist: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and ASHA certification (CCC-SLP preferred).
  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, and families in early intervention or home-based settings.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development, developmental delays, and evidence-based intervention strategies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and travel within the designated service area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with IFSP development and Early Development Network, including routines-based early intervention strategies (RBIs and Getting Ready)

Job Title: Early Childhood Special Education Teacher (ECSE)

Job Title Code: 7544

Number of Days Worked: Varies by assignment.  Full time position is 190 days.

Department: Student Services

FLSA Status: Exempt

Immediate Supervisor: Executive Director of Student Services

Staff Supervised:  None

Essential Requirements:

  1. No history of child abuse or negligence.

  2. Degree in Early Childhood Special Education and/or Endorsement in ECSE

  3. Nebraska Teaching Certificate

  4. Successfully pass required background checks.

  5. Regular and dependable in person attendance is required and is considered a condition of employment. The assigned duties of this position may allow consideration of occasional/infrequent remote work with the approval of the supervisor. Remote work is subject to the remote work guidelines and conditions outlined in the job description. The supervisor may withdraw the remote work option at any time.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Understand and comply with the ESU #3 Board of Education Personnel Policies and Employee Handbook.

  2. Implements appropriate diagnostic procedures to determine special education eligibility in accordance with Nebraska Rule 51 and/or Rule 52 criteria.

  3. Accepts referrals and schedules evaluations within a reasonable period of time.

  4. Is aware of and able to complete state reporting for Results Matter.

  5. Informs school district administrators of progress of the evaluation and keeps them informed of relevant issues regarding children from their district that have been referred.

  6. Works with appropriate staff to assure that assessment in all areas relating to a child’s suspected disabilities are assessed.

  7. Provide support to children and families during flexible times and settings, including their homes or other agreed upon settings. 

  8. Provides continuous service for the Birth to age five population, requiring service provision over a twelve month period.

  9. Engages in evidence-based intervention practices for early intervention. 

  10. Assists students with activities of daily living, health related activities and functional living skills.  

  11. Assists with administrative responsibilities associated with coordinating or supporting health related activities for students with special needs. 

  12. Completes required special education paperwork from the referral process through multidisciplinary team meetings.

  13. Writes a comprehensive diagnostic report for each evaluation completed.

  14. Understands federal and state laws and regulations that apply to special education programs.

  15. Seeks out and participates in appropriate staff development activities to maintain and improve professional skills.

  16. Arrives at the first school building/district/program assigned on schedule at the regular start of that program’s work day i.e., 7:45am), or earlier if requested, and works through the day until 4:30pm or later if requested .

Essential Requirements:

  1. Masters Degree in Speech Pathology

  2. Nebraska Teaching Certificate and/or Nebraska Licensure

  3. No history of child abuse or negligence

  4. Successfully pass required background checks.

  5. Regular and dependable in person attendance is required and is considered a condition of employment. The assigned duties of this position may allow consideration of occasional/infrequent remote work with the approval of the supervisor. Remote work is subject to the remote work guidelines and conditions outlined in the job description. The supervisor may withdraw the remote work option at any time.

  5. Informs school administrators of progress of the evaluation and keeps them informed of relevant issues regarding children from their district that have been referred.

  6. Works with appropriate staff to assure that assessment in all areas relating to a child’s suspected disabilities are assessed.

  7. Responsible for providing direct Speech and Language services to students with a verified disability.

  8. Assists students to be able to participate in appropriate educational programs and activities of daily living.

  9. Develops appropriate therapy plans and establishes educationally relevant goals.

  10. Collaborates, coaches, demonstrates and instructs the child, family, school personnel and others in the implementation of the program and activities to enhance the goals of the child’s program and to build competence, capacity and confidence in the child’s caregivers/teachers.

  11. May need to provide support to children and families in the evening.

  12. May provide continuous service for the Birth to age three population, requiring service provision over a twelve month period.

  13. Completes required special education paperwork from referral process through a multidisciplinary team meeting.

  14. Writes a comprehensive diagnostic report for each evaluation completed.

  15. Familiarize yourself with federal and state laws and regulations that apply to special education programs.

  16. Seeks out and participates in appropriate staff development activities to maintain and improve professional skills.

  18. Regularly access the e-mail system for review of materials distributed from ESU #3.

  19. Provides own transportation to fulfill responsibilities of position.

  20. Arrives at the first school building/district/program assigned in schedule at the regular start of that program’s work day (i.e., 7:45 a.m), or earlier if requested, and works through the day until 4:30 p.m. or later if requested . 

  21. Other duties as assigned.
