Job Description
We are seeking a mission-aligned Interior Designer to join our team and focus on the design of temple projects for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to sacred architecture and be part of a team dedicated to this specialized and inspiring work.
As an Interior Designer you will lead the interior design process for a variety of sacred and supporting spaces, working collaboratively with architectural teams and clients. This position involves conceptual and schematic design, design development, and construction documentation. You will play a key role in delivering designs that are spiritually resonant, functionally effective, and beautifully executed.
In this position, you will:
- Lead and contribute to the design and documentation of interior environments from concept through construction.
- Design sacred spaces with sensitivity to function, culture, and spiritual purpose.
- Select materials, finishes, furnishings, and fixtures aligned with project vision and Church standards.
- Develop presentation materials to clearly communicate design intent.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and accessibility standards.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, and clients throughout all project phases.
- Participate in on-site visits during construction to ensure design intent is realized and punch list items are addressed.
- Foster client relationships built on trust, professionalism, and shared values.
- Champion environmentally and socially responsible design principles.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative studio culture.
Required Skills and Qualifications - Proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong design sensibility with excellent visualization and presentation skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Working knowledge of structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering concepts.
- Proficient knowledge of furniture and furniture systems, vendors and resources, procurement process, and selection of materials palettes.
- Organized and able to work in a team environment as well as the ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Experience coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams and consultants.
Preferred Qualifications - NCIDQ Certification or architectural licensure.
- Experience designing temples or sacred spaces for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (3+ years preferred).
- Interest in long-term involvement with temple architecture.
Qualifications and Education Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in interior design from an accredited school or an associate degree with an additional 2 years of experience.
- 4-10 years’ work experience in interior design.
