Job Description

Marin, Barrett, and Murphy Law Firm is a premier criminal defense law firm located in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional representation to our clients and supporting the growth and development of our attorneys. We are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our team. This position offers an opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully in a supportive environment.

As an Associate Attorney, you will take on three key responsibilities:

  1. Learning the Criminal Defense Practice
    • Represent clients in traffic offenses, minor criminal cases, and criminal record expungements.
    • Gain hands-on experience while developing the foundational skills necessary for a successful career in criminal defense.
  2. Supporting the Legal Team
    • Assist other attorneys by appearing in court to cover cases as needed.
    • Provide critical support to ensure seamless and effective client representation across the firm.
  3. Supporting Partner Stefanie Murphy
    • Work closely with Partner Stefanie Murphy, assisting with the representation of both criminal defense and family law clients.
    • Handle a range of legal matters, offering direct client interaction and case involvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough legal research and develop effective case strategies.
  • Appear in court for hearings, motions, and trials.
  • Build strong professional relationships with clients, providing clear communication and guidance.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of case files, client communications, and court proceedings.
  • Stay informed on legal trends to ensure up-to-date and effective client representation.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to provide comprehensive legal services.

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed

Requirements

  • Education: Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • License: Active admission to the Rhode Island Bar (required).

    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
