Key Responsibilities

  • Operate surveying instruments and equipment to measure angles, distances, and elevations.
  • Analyze survey data to determine the shape, contour, location, and dimensions of land or marine features.
  • Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other terrain characteristics.
  • Prepare detailed sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions to certify and assume liability for survey work.
  • Determine longitudes and latitudes of significant features and boundaries within survey areas.
  • Plan and conduct ground and marine surveys to establish baselines, elevations, and other geodetic measurements.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure surveys align with project plans and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all survey data and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and safety standards on all job sites.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a construction surveyor, preferably in heavy civil or marine construction.
  • Must hold a valid Massachusetts Surveyor License (required).
  • Proficiency in modern surveying methods, instruments, and software (software provided by the company).
  • Strong understanding of coastal and marine environments is a plus.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prepare clear and precise survey documentation.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with field and office teams.
  • Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship on active construction sites.
