Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering student for a summer internship in our Engineering Department. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for a student to gain real-world experience in a machine-building environment. The ideal candidate will have strong 3D CAD skills and a desire to develop machine design skills.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with engineers to support machine standardization efforts:
-As directed, aid in the development of standardized Bills of Material for multiple machine lines
-Creating and/or updating company ERP database of legacy machine parts to current standards
-Creating and/or updating libraries of machine part files (.SLDPRT) to current standards
-Position will be heavy in data-entry and workflow-defined tasks
As capabilities and needs permit, assist in:
-The design and development of mechanical components and assemblies.
-Creating and modifying 3D CAD models and drawings (SolidWorks).
-Loading and managing production of additive-manufactured (3D printed) parts.
Qualifications
-Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
-Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks).
-Eagerness to develop the skills of a machine-builder and gain exposure to manufacturing processes.
-Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively on a team.
-Ability to work in both an office and an assembly shop environment.
-Ability to work without a permanent desk space.
-Preference given to Junior or Senior-level students.
-Flexibility and adaptability to dynamic work environments.
Timing
Approximately 12 weeks between May and August with considerations for unpaid time off.
40-hrs per week.
Typically 7:00am - 4:00pm, or similar
