This individual will perform medical laboratory tests, procedures, and analysis to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

Responsibilities:

· Perform venous and capillary phlebotomy according to department procedure.

· Conduct analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid, to determine presence of normal and abnormal components.

· Study blood cells, their numbers, and morphology. Perform blood group, type, and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes.

· Analyze test results and accurately enter findings into computer.

· Perform quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data.

· Perform routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure.

· Verify instrument functioning by checking and calibrating specific lab instruments and then document data.

· Record instrument logs for any repairs, replacement, and needed maintenance of equipment.

· Assist in writing policies and procedures necessary to perform tests.

· Process patient samples to prepare for testing and shipping.

· Assist in maintaining adequate inventory of supplies in all work/storage areas of Laboratory.

· Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

· Graduate from a four-year college or technical school with a Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree.

· Basic Life Support (BLS) and American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) and/or the equivalent of a Medical Technologist.

· May be trained and certified in DOT/Non-DOT drug collections and breath alcohols.

· Prefer 1 year of related experience.

· Must have a current driver's license.
