Job Description
Responsibilities NOTE: Candidates selected for this position will be assigned to a specific opening (CSP or Unit Dose) at a home location (St. Marys hospital or Methodist hospital). Cross-training between CSP and Unit Dose at both St. Marys and Methodist hospital or another campus in Rochester may be required. Overnight shifts may be an opportunity if positions are available.
Pharmacy Tech Levels 1 - 5 Assists the pharmacist in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to the patient. Gathers, labels and distributes medications accurately and efficiently. Packages, prepares and safely compounds medications including hazardous substances accurately and efficiently. Handles, manages and distributes controlled substances in compliance with regulatory requirements and department policies; and assists with drug diversion surveillance. Assists with maintaining accurate medication inventories and billing of medications. Effectively communicates utilizing established systems and processes. Performs responsibilities and duties of the job in a manner that is attentive to age and ability considerations.

Qualifications Note: These qualifications apply to the Pharmacy Tech level 1, which are the minimum qualifications that must be met for all levels.
Minimum Qualifications - High School diploma or equivalent.
Additional Qualifications - Effectively reads, writes, speaks and understands English. Possess strong telephone and verbal communication skills.
- Able to learn technical tasks. Able to follow written and verbal directions. Able to apply math and calculator skills along with a working knowledge of the metric system.
- Experience with the use of office software computer applications and keyboarding.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a busy environment and pay attention to detail. Proven organizational and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment.
- Prior experience as a hospital pharmacy technician preferred.
- No history of drug abuse or misuse; or proof of successful completion of a certified drug abuse rehabilitation program is required.
License Or Certification - Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy.
- National Pharmacy Technician certification within 12 months of hire.

Compensation Detail Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. Note: This pay range spans from the minimum for a Tech I to the maximum for a Tech V. Placement within a level and within the range is dependent on experience and qualifications. $20.07 - $38.85 / hour
