Job Title: Phlebotomist Location: Highland, CA
Contract: 5 months contract (possible contract to hire)
Shift: 8am-5pm Monday to Friday
Hours Per week: 40 hours per week.
Description What are the top responsibilities for this position? (Please be as detailed as possible as to what tasks will be conducted on a daily basis): Blood collection: from adult and pediatric patients using vacutainer, syringe and butterfly techniques; capillary puncture using heel and fingerstick techniques
Identifies and labels specimens appropriately
Instructs patients in regard to urine and stool collection procedures
Enters accessioning data into the computer
Prepares specimens for send out testing
Inventories supplies and prepares phlebotomy stations to effectively collect blood
Attends required meetings
Maintains patient confidentiality
Provide quality Customer Service to the patients and visitors courteously and promptly
Must possess solid interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with co-workers, Management Staff, and Physicians
Must Have Qualifications/experience 1+ years of phlebotomy
What skills/attributes are nice to have, and will set a candidate apart? Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform blood, urine and stool collection
Knowledge of container and minimum volume requirements for specimen collection.
Skill in labeling and dispersing specimens to appropriate stations
Skill in interacting with patients representing a broad physical and socioeconomic spectrum.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, laboratory staff and medical staff
Type Of Certification Required State of California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I required
Current CPR card for Healthcare Professionals (BLS) -American Heart Association
Is travel required for this role? If yes, when and how often? Local travel required for training. Covering at other sites within 15 miles of location may be needed
Will they travel to more than one location within a work shift? Not on a regular basis
Will work take place in a patient's home? No
