The Difference You Make:
The QC Credit Reviewer operates within the First Line of Defense and supports the Auto Dealership Commercial Services (DCS) Portfolio. This role combines business control responsibilities with underwriting expertise to independently assess the quality of credit execution and portfolio risk. The incumbent champions the Business Control mandate as a critical business partner while also applying deep credit skills to test, validate, and challenge underwriting practices. This includes reviewing judgmental and complex aspects of credit decisions, ensuring risk ratings are appropriately supported, and providing actionable feedback to strengthen the control environment and improve portfolio quality.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Risk Culture & Credit QC: Ensure the DCS business line adheres to risk frameworks, standard and procedures. Actively identify potential credit weaknesses, challenge underwriting assumptions, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Underwriting & Credit Review: Provide expert evaluation of credit memos, financial spreads, and projections to confirm adequacy of analysis and viability of repayment sources. Validate model inputs, risk ratings, and covenant compliance, particularly for credits with heightened repayment risk.
  • Continuous Monitoring: Monitor DCS portfolio for emerging risks including revenue/EBITDA pressure, covenant breaches, or thematic weaknesses. Assess and escalate credit issues promptly to maintain portfolio within risk appetite.
  • Issue Identification & Root Cause Analysis: Identify thematic trends, systemic weaknesses, or recurring issues in DCS underwriting. Support remediation plans and provide recommendations to enhance the control environment and improve credit execution consistency.
  • Communication & Reporting: Prepare high-quality review reports and communicate results to key stakeholders, including senior management and governance bodies, ensuring timely dissemination of findings and escalations.
  • Collaboration & Exam Management: Liaise with Underwriters, Portfolio Managers, Internal Audit, and Credit Risk Review. Provide exam support, validate BU responses, and confirm remediation actions are sufficient and sustainable.
