Majestic Care is seeking a dynamic Regional Registered Dietitian to lead and consult with our nutrition departments at our long-term care communities in Northern Ohio. This role offers a flexible work schedule - Hybrid a combination of on site visits as well as work from home options.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Regional Registered Dietitian’s primary responsibilities include, but not limited to, completing comprehensive nutrition assessments for all residents and incorporating nutrition interventions into the individualized interdisciplinary plan of care for residents as indicated. Ensures that all assessments and care plans meet professional standards of practice, reflect current evidence-based practices, and are in full compliance for all applicable regulatory statures. Consistently observes, reviews and documents on residents considered high nutritional risk (weight loss, tube feeding, dialysis, wounds, etc). Directly supervises and provides direction to the Registered Dietitian Assistant (if applicable). Completes routine auditing and provides support/feedback to culinary departments within assigned territory to ensure regulatory standards are being met as relates to sanitation, food handling, menu compliance, budget management and dining services. Travel between assigned facilities is essential.

  • Demonstrates expertise in clinical nutrition, preferably in geriatric and rehabilitation care practices in the skilled nursing environment.
  • Possesses the ability to apply critical thinking to a variety of situations, assess objectives, develop and implement and monitor effective plans for improvement.
  • Working knowledge of computer and software applications used to perform job responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive feedback.
  • Monitors and provides guidance to the Culinary Manager regarding appropriate preparation and delivery of regular and therapeutic diets.
  • Provide a written record of recommendations for change in nutrition care, including recommendations to physicians, recommendations for nursing care, and changes in the meal plan, as identified in the medical record, to nursing management and the Executive Director.
  • Facilitates the coordination between culinary services department, nursing services, activities, and other departments to insure appropriate dining services and distribution and assistance with meals and snacks for all residents.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation in resident medical records; participates in care planning.
  • Monitors laboratory data to identify abnormal data that may indicate a change in metabolic status, nutrition status or hydration status.
  • Monitors all residents for changes in weight weekly and/or monthly to identify potential changes in nutrition or hydration status.
  • Based on the comprehensive assessment, identifies the nutrition interventions that are incorporated into the individualized interdisciplinary plan of care for each resident, and ensures that information is appropriately entered.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation in resident medical records; participate in resident care planning via electronic medical record.
  • Actively participates in the long-term care survey process by instructing staff in matters of conduct and disclosure, maintaining presence during scheduled working days while surveyors are on-site and directing the timely collection of information required by the survey team. Demonstrates concern for identified problems and undertakes corrective action while survey is in progress if appropriate. Gathers and presents supplemental documentation to avoid potential deficiencies. Collaborates with the Executive Director to develop responses to survey report as needed.
  • Collaborates in a timely manner with the Executive Director and VP of Culinary Operations timely to requests for information and suggestions to improve quality of the Culinary and Nutrition services.
  • Maintain effective relationships with residents and families, medical care team member and with all care team members in the community.
  • Provides education and/or guidance to residents and families regarding current nutrition status, nutrition care recommendations, available treatment options, and anticipated course of care.
  • Attends professional meetings and conferences to keep abreast of current practices and trends in the field of dietetics and nutrition; provide nutrition education and counseling for residents; present nutrition education programs to culinary and other care team members, as required.
  • Ensures safe work and sanitary procedures are developed and followed, to include those relating to care team members injuries, prevention, prevention of foodborne illness, and infection control.
  • Ensures a Continuous Quality Control Improvement Program is in place and that appropriate follow-up occurs.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned and within scope of practice.

Licensures Or Certification Requirements

  • Active Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Holds current license of certification in state in which they are practicing.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of nutrition documentation experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting. One (1) year of supervisory experience preferred, but not required
  • Possess strong knowledge base of all applicable local, state and federal regulatory statues and guidelines pertaining to food service and healthcare in the skilled nursing setting.
  • Current ServSafe Certification
