BASIC FUNCTION: The Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) is an integral member of the adult gastroenterology (GI) division at University of Michigan Health (UM Health). The RDN has their own provider schedule to see patients referred by the medical provider team as part of a multidisciplinary care approach. The RDN serves as the nutrition expert in helping people to make lifestyle changes for overall health improvement, disease prevention and management. The RDN supports patients via oversight of specialized diets or nutrition goals needed for optimization of medical outcomes.
This RDN role will be the primary point of contact on the GI RDN team of patient referrals for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases such as Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. This RDN will also receive referrals to care for patients with Eosinophilic Esophagitis, Pancreatitis, Short Bowel Syndrome / high output ostomy, and Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth. This RDN will be able to clinically support referrals for Disorders of Gut-Brain Interaction disorders (including irritable bowel syndrome), Celiac Disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Gastroparesis, and enteral and parenteral patients followed/managed by our UM Health gastroenterologists. Screening for disordered eating will be required in the comprehensive nutrition assessment.
The RDN provides service to adult patients over the age of 18 years.

This role is 20 hours/week.
This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
