Job Description



AECOM is seeking a Marine Structural Engineer to fulfill a critical role within our East Region Marine group based in New York City, NY. This position demands a high level of expertise and commitment to excellence in maritime engineering.

The core responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Execute complex design and planning activities for high-stakes maritime projects, including container terminals, mining/bulk facilities, oil/gas installations, marinas, ports and harbors, offshore wind farms, and coastal resiliency and development schemes.

• Independently develop and rigorously review calculations, drawings, specifications, and documents. Oversee and critically evaluate technical deliverables prepared by junior structural engineers to ensure the highest standards of quality and accuracy.

• Provide authoritative oversight of junior structural engineers' work. Conduct thorough quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings to maintain the integrity of all project outputs.

• Contribute significant technical expertise to the development of project scopes and design fee estimates in response to RFPs, ensuring comprehensive and competitive proposals.

• Assume a leadership role in coordinating the marine team with other in-house and subconsultant engineering disciplines. Conduct rigorous interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables to ensure cohesion and excellence across all aspects of the project.

• Perform meticulous condition assessments and site visits as required, providing expert analysis and recommendations.

• Undertake essential short to medium-term site visits as dictated by project requirements, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to project success.

• Collaborate closely with project managers to ensure both technical excellence and business objectives are met, contributing to the overall success and reputation of the organization.

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field plus Six (6) plus years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred

Qualifications

:
  • Master of Science (with Structural Engineering concentration)
  • Ten (10) plus years experience as a Structural Engineer with a focus in ports, marine and waterfront projects
  • Experience with computer analysis and design software such as SAP 2000, RISA 3D, STAAD.Pro, SAFE
