Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Client Controller to join our dynamic team. In this leadership position, you will manage a team of accounting professionals while providing exceptional outsourced controllership and advisory services to a variety of clients, primarily in the government contracting sector. You will help clients navigate complex financial environments, ensuring compliance with industry standards while offering strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Service:

Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their unique business needs and providing expert financial guidance.
Lead scalable accounting operations, ensuring adherence to internal control systems, policies, and procedures.
Develop and maintain comprehensive accounting policies and procedures for clients.
Recommend and implement financial tools that improve efficiency and clarity in reporting.
Develop and monitor client budgets, forecasts, and cash flows.
Oversee month-end closing processes and ensure accurate, timely financial reports.
Analyze financial data to provide actionable insights and recommendations to clients.
Lead client conference calls, discussing strategy, future needs, and operational changes.
Assist in tax preparation and manage external audit coordination.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local government reporting requirements.
Team Leadership:

Manage and guide a team of virtual accounting professionals, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting for multiple clients.
Provide training, mentorship, and performance feedback to staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
Enforce a strong internal control system to ensure integrity in accounting processes.
Internal Leadership:

Collaborate with senior leadership to develop strategies and best practices that drive company success.
Participate in recruiting and onboarding new team members.
Share knowledge and best practices with peers to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Experience:

10-15 years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in public accounting and 5+ years in private industry.
Proven ability to manage and mentor a team while ensuring quality standards.
Experience working with small to medium-sized businesses, particularly in government contracting, and a solid understanding of FAR, CAS, and DCAA requirements.
Strong problem-solving abilities and technical focus, with hands-on experience in accounting.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to make quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with accounting software, including QuickBooks and ICAT, and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook and Excel).
Ability to adapt to different client environments and travel as needed.
Education & Certifications:

CPA preferred.
Several years of client-facing outsourced accounting experience.
At least 5 years of supervisory experience.
In-depth knowledge of federal contracts, full accrual accounting, and government contracting regulations.
