Job Description

Adelphi is seeking Sterile Processing Technicians to provide services at a facility in New York. The ideal candidates will perform sterile processing techniques and services in an acute care facility with general surgery, orthopedic, cardio-thoracic, vascular, neuro/spine, eye, ENT, laparoscopic and robotic surgical services, services using flexible endoscopes, among other responsibilities.

• Schedule: Mon-Fri, 12pm - 8:30pm

Requirements:

• IAHCSMM certification or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution(CBSPD)
• Minimum of three (3) years recent Sterile Processing technician experience

Responsibilities:

• Decontaminate, inspect, and process surgical instruments, endoscopes, and medical devices per manufacturer guidelines.
• Operate decontamination equipment to clean, disinfect, and process surgical instruments, trays, endoscopes, and powered surgical tools.
• Perform high-level disinfection (HLD) for flexible endoscopes and maintain quality assurance protocols.
• Prepare and stock OR case carts with sterilized instruments and supplies per surgical schedules.
• Perform all functions of the decontamination process including manual and mechanical cleaning of surgical, reusable equipment, dental instrumentation.
• Perform all functions of the prep/packaging and sterilization process including documentation and quality assurance procedures.
• Properly and safely load, operate and trouble shoot a variety of sterilizers.
• Properly transport all items for HLD process before and after processing in accordance with facility protocols.
• Follow facility protocol on OR case cart process and sterile storage area regulations.
• Prepare case carts for the OR and ensuring that everything on the pull sheet is obtained for the next day’s cases.
• Additional duties as assigned by facility.
