Job Title: Truck Driver – Liquid Tanker Department:Transportation

FLSA Status: Hourly (non-exempt)
Shift: Day Pay Range: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour.
SUMMARY Reporting to the Transportation Manager, the Liquid Tank Truck Driver is responsible for picking up and delivering product to assigned local mill facilities, dairies and ranches in a safe and efficient manner. This position will operate flat beds and/or walking floors and is responsible for the safe and legal operation of the company’s commercial motor vehicle, as well as timely delivery of product, comprehension of various transportation documents and operating necessary mechanical controls on all tractor-trailers while demonstrating safe driving practices. Will interact with customers in a professional and appropriate manner to ensure effective communication regarding customer problems and requests.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: - Transports product to assigned location ensuring timely delivery of product
- Ensures proper handling and unloading of product to assure safety and minimal risk of damage
- Provides safe and timely transportation of product from origin to destination
- Responsible for safe operation of equipment in accordance with all local, state, federal, DOT laws and company policies
- Inspects vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues
- Reports to assigned dispatcher and supervisor on a daily basis for route instructions
- Reports defects, accidents or violations
- May load and unload trailers; secures loads safely
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES - Other duties and/or special projects as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of: - DOT and state regulations governing safe driving, hours of service inspection
- Safe and legal operation of a commercial motor vehicle
- Vehicle safety and control systems
Ability to: - Communicate effectively with all levels of staff throughout the organization
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with all co-workers and staff
- Work overtime and weekends as needed
- Complete all necessary paperwork/documentation related to truck operations and product
- Meet and maintain the medical standards of the US DOT
- Maintain logs and handle other paperwork as required
Experience and Training Guidelines: - Three (3) years’ experience operating doubles and securing loads
- Three (3) years’ experience running and operating a loader
- Strong work ethic – dependable and reliable
- Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Detail-oriented and thorough
- Valid Class A driver’s license with doubles/triples, tankers (non-hazardous materials) and air brakes, and medical card
- Clean DMV record
- Operating flat bed, walking floors and tanker trucks; operating stingers a plus
Physical and mental requirements - Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, crawling, pushing, pulling and climbing
- Frequent lifting and or moving over 50 pounds
- Constant use of overall vision; frequent reading and close-up work
Working conditions - Work is performed based on a 24/6 operation schedule with multiple site locations
- Work is performed in outside weather conditions
- Varied work schedule and overtime, including weekends, nights and holidays
