Job Description and Duties

The California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) is seeking an Information Technology Technician (ITT). In this role, you will be responsible for supporting enterprise websites, intranets, and applications. You will work as a developer and graphics designer in a professional development team.

This advertisement will remain open until the position has been filled. Applications will be reviewed after each cutoff date, the 1st and 15th of each month, with the first cutoff date being July 15, 2025.

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to computer screens and other basic office equipment.
  • Work in a climate-controlled office environment, open office space with artificial lighting.
  • Attend meetings in designated conference rooms and be willing to travel to off-site locations.
  • Capability to work remotely.
  • This position may be eligible for hybrid telework. The amount of hybrid telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on the CSAC's current telework policy. While the CSAC supports telework, in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksite with minimal notification if an urgent need arises, as determined by the Department. The selected candidate may be required to conduct business travel on behalf of the Department or commute to the headquarters location. business travel reimbursements consider an employee's designated Headquarters Location, primary residence, and may be subject to the California Department of Human Resources regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

Special Requirements

Candidates are required to submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ). The SOQ is a  narrative discussion of how the candidates’ education, training, experience, and skills qualify  them for the position. The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate's ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. Résumés and/or cover letters do not take the place of the SOQ.

Applications received without a Statement of Qualifications following these instructions may be rejected and disqualified from the hiring process.  The SOQ must be typed in 12-point Arial font, single spaced, with one-inch margins and must be a minimum of one (1) page, not to exceed two (2) pages in length, and clearly titled "Statement of Qualifications".  Responses must be answered and numbered in the same as order as the following questions:
  1. Provide links to two (2) websites you have helped design and build. Describe your involvement with each of the sites.
  2. Provide three (3) examples of graphics you have created, include at least one logo and one flyer. Describe what you were trying to achieve and why you used the imagery, text, and colors.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:


You are a motivated, reliable growth-oriented individual who wants to focus on utilizing the best practices in the deliver of IT services and support and works closely with the Application Development team and other teams to ensure customers receive quality products and services. The following describe you:

  • Apprentice level experience in software and website development projects using modern application technologies; such as JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, Oracle PL/SQL, GitHub.
  • Have a portfolio of graphic design work, including flyers, logos, web design, etc.
  • Familiar with the software development lifecycle (SDLC) process to support the team to improve and mature the process.
  • Experience with content management systems, such as Drupal.
  • Motivated team player, self-starter, creative thinker with a positive attitude.
