General Summary Of Duties:

Prepare/serve beverages as ordered by waitress/cocktail server. Provide the beverage to the guest in a friendly, courteous and timely manner, resulting in guest satisfaction. 

Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following)

  • Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner. 
  • Promote and document orders for drinks, reciting selection of all call and premium brands as requested (requires memorization of all available drinks). 
  • Mix, garnish and present drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control.
  • Input order into a register at the point of sale, and create a check for each guest/party, including those served by cocktail servers, to maintain accountability of all beverages served.
  • Replenish beverages as requested, frequently checking back with guest to inquire about satisfaction.
  • Present the guest with the check promptly, thanking them and inviting them to return. 
  • Receive cash from guests, make change needed, verify validity and record charges, and insure vouchers are properly executed, in order to balance all monies.
  • Respond to guest inquiries. 
  • Provide guest satisfaction through assistance, direction and information within Hotel guidelines.
  • Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis. Maintain cleanliness of guest areas at all times, including removing empty glasses/bottles and cleaning ashtrays.

Performance Requirements: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)

  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items/hotel services.
  • Ability to read, write, speaks and understands the English language and utilizes math skills for recipes, measurements and guest check.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal/external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and solve customer concerns within Hotel guidelines.
  • Ability to read, write, speaks and understands the English language in order to provide guest service/satisfaction and communicate with other employees.
  • Ability to read, write, speaks and understands the English language to comprehend and follow written and/or verbal instructions from management, guest and other employees.
  • Communicate with supervisor throughout the shift.
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, receive cash from guests, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges and understand portion sizes. 
  • Balance house bank at the beginning and end of the shift. Retrieves and returns bank from vault to workstation to ensure accountability.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and awkward positions, requiring standing, crouching, kneeling, stooping and reaching overhead for extended periods of time.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity of hand in order to use cork screw, knives and ice scoop.
  • Ability to operate cash register, soda gun, liquor gun, blender, knife, corkscrew, telephone and ice scoop.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in case of emergency situations and to read caution and/or safety notices.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language clearly to ascertain and document important information, to follow written and/or verbal instructions and to provide clear direction/guidance. Ability to relate to all levels of management, guests and employees in verbal/written form.
  • Ability to read, write, speaks and understands the English language to comprehend product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes. 
  • Ability to read, write, speaks and understands the English language to complete job requirements and communicate with other employees.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction, instruction and guidance to staff. Assign and instruct all personnel in details of work. Observe performance and encourage improvement. Monitor workload and make staffing adjustments accordingly.
  • Ability to remain alert throughout the duration of the shift and remain calm during emergency situations.
  • Listen and respond to guest inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice, answer questions and offer assistance giving accurate information.
  • Social skills as demonstrated by the ability to listen and respond to employee or management concerns/inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice, answering questions and/or offering assistance giving accurate information regarding plans, policy or procedures.
  • Respond to guest inquiries. 
  • Provide guest satisfaction through assistance, direction and information within hotel guidelines.
  • Ability to organize/prioritize work, meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision and multiple interruptions.
  • Check station before, during and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness.
  • Good working knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation.
  • Ability to maintain attendance in conformance with standards.
  • Ability to maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
