The M. Dhodapkar lab is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to work in a collaborative environment leading research on understanding evolution of host response against cancer , particularly myeloma. The focus of our lab is to study interactions between cancer and immune system in the setting of precursor states and clinical malignancy, focusing on myeloma and harness it to develop new therapies to prevent or treat myeloma.

This position will focus on understanding the evolution of immune response to cancer and precancer, leveraging novel mouse models developed by our lab, cancer patient-derived samples, with functional, single cell, spatial, and computational approaches. The position will provide opportunities to advance translational applications in the areas of immunotherapies and disease modeling, and for collaborations with colleagues in UW and other cancer centers. This position is ideally suited for a candidate who enjoys working collaboratively across disciplines, mentoring junior scientific investigators, and contributing to an innovative academic environment to forge new scientific directions.

Responsibilities

  • Handling projects independently, including literature reviews, experimental design, and data analysis, under the guidance of the laboratory PI.
  • Contributing to the preparation of research reports, publications, and oral presentations.
  • Opportunities for presentations at scientific conferences and symposiums.

Qualifications

  • PhD and/or MD in a relevant field (immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, computational biology, or related fields).
  • Track record of productive research, with high quality publications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • A team player with strong aptitude for collaboration.
  • Experience in immunology is desired.
  • Additional experience in animal handling, flow cytometry, single cell transcriptomics, gene editing, molecular biology, proteomics, immunohistochemistry, bioinformatics, and/or microscopy is a plus.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $77,976 to $95,014.40 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security. Benefits include medical/vision, dental, flexible spending accounts, life, disability, retirement, family life support, employee assistance program, onsite health clinic, income-based child care subsidy, tuition reimbursement, paid vacation (22 days per year), paid sick leave (up to 30 calendar days per occurrence of a qualifying reason), paid holidays (13 days per year), and paid parental leave (up to 4 weeks).
