State Compensation Insurance Fund’s (“State Fund’s”) Legal Lien team is seeking a couple of motivated Senior Lien Representatives. At State Fund, our Legal Senior Lien Representatives provide representation, consultation, analysis, defense, and testimony on lien cases at the Division of Workers’ Compensation (“DWC”) lien hearings in accordance with regional office/corporate policies.

As a Senior Lien Representative, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact by handling, defending, litigating, and resolving workers’ compensation liens.

Your Role:

As a vital member of our team, you'll enjoy a diverse and fulfilling role. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate closely with internal and external clients.
  • Prepare assigned lien cases for court hearings, according to workers’ compensation laws, DWC regulations, medical fee schedules, and State Fund policies and procedures.
  • Research and analyze statutory and case law relating to specific issues
  • Represent State Fund at lien hearings, including trials.
  • Review bills based on applicable fee schedules.
  • Determine compensability of unresolved, outstanding liens filed against claims within the structure of the law and using applicable fee schedule so that the fiscal integrity of State Fund is protected.
  • Negotiate and draft settlements.

The Legal Lien team appears at multiple Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board district offices throughout California. It is anticipated these positions will serve primarily the Los Angeles area and multiple counties in Northern California. However, the successful candidates might be assigned to appear at other Boards and locations as well.

These positions offer the flexibility of remote work/telework. However, to facilitate local in-person hearings, the successful candidates will be expected to attend some hearings and other calendar commitments in-person.

Home office could be :  LA, Alameda, Shasta, Sonoma, Sacramento, Monterey, San Francisco, or San Joaquin county.
